Fees, and Insurance
Dr. Hutchins offers treatment options for people with or without insurance coverage.
One of my primary beliefs is that I do not serve any purpose as a healthcare practitioner if my patients can't afford access to care at my clinic. If you wish to use your insurance coverage, I will process the insurance claim form for you, and send it on your behalf. Whether you have top of the line insurance, poor coverage, or no coverage, I encourage you to discuss non-insurance treatment options with me to help you make the choice that best suits your individual needs. I will never charge to discuss your care, or my services with you, and you will always speak with me personally about your situation. Most employer Flexible Spending or Health Reimbursement Arrangement plans (Flex Spending or HRA plans), as well as Health Savings Accounts (HSA) can be used to pay for the services offered at this office. For those people with chronic pain that need more frequent care, I offer lower cost "maintenance" treatment options. Please clink on the text below, to help you determine options that may be best suited to your situation.

I have have a low deductible plan, or expect to meet my deductible this year. Should I have Dr. Hutchins bill my insurance?"The answer depends on whether or not services are covered under your plan. It is not possible to accurately make a broad statement like "Blue Cross accepted", since Blue Cross/Blue Shield administers hundreds (or thousands) of plans in Illinois alone, each with thier own contracts determining what services are covered, and at what rate, and what the limits are per calender year. On the FORMS tab on the menu bar or this website, you can download the HNC Insurance Verification Form, which will provide the information you need to verify coverage with your insurer. Please consider that insurance companies base thier reimbursment on "medical necessity", and even though you may "really hurt" they may or may not consider treatment of your pain as medically necessary. This can present roadblocks to receiving care for chronic pain that may require periodic visits to manage, even though you may receive significant, long lasting relief from your treatment. Dr. Hutchins will make every effort to ensure your treatments are covered, but the insurance company makes the final determination of medical necessity, and reimbursement. Additional office visit time may be required for evaluation and testing to build a solid insurance claim, so Dr. Hutchins fees for treatment when billing insurance may reflect the additional time required. Please talk to Dr. Hutchins if you would like to discuss this, or any matter related to you care. There is never a charge to discuss your care at this office.

I do not have insurance, or these services are not covered under my plan,or I am on Medicare or Medicaid, or I just do not want to involve my insurance, what is the best option for me?"If any of the above situations apply to you, Dr. Hutchins recommends that you shedule your visit as a maintenance visit. You will still receive the same thorough care, but will not have to be concerned about whether or not your insurer will approve your claim. Please talk to Dr. Hutchins if you would like to discuss this, or any matter related to you care. There is never a charge to discuss your care at this office.

I have a high deductible or catastrophic insurance plan, and do not expect to meet my deductible. Should I have Dr. Hutchins bill my insurer?"If you, as increasing numbers of patients have a high deductible insurance plan, especially if you are relatively healthy, you may consider scheduling your appointment as a "maintenance visit." A maintenance visit includes a "full body naprapathic treatment", with emphasis on trouble areas, but does not have to meet the "medical necesity" requirement for insurance reimbursement. A maintenance visit can significantly reduce the cost of care, and if you decide to change to an insurance billed visit going forward (for instance you get better coverage, have an injury, etc.) you can change the nature of your future visits. Maintenance visits that have already taken place are not elidgable for insurance billing or support. Please use the "HNC Insurance Verification Form" available as a pdf download on the FORMS tab on the site menu to help you verify your coverage. Please talk to Dr. Hutchins if you would like to discuss this, or any matter related to you care. There is never a charge to discuss your care at this office.

What if I need diagnostic services like an x-ray or MRI?Dr. Hutchins is a licensed naprapth, and he can order diagnostic imaging such as an x-ray, or an MRI. He is able to recommend very low cost, high quality imaging services from a variety of local facilities. These services offer a fixed, low cost, "cash pay" price for imaging services, and include the reading by a radiologist. If you want to bill your insurer for these services, most insurers require a "precertification" and you may not have the option of paying the "cash price" for the service if insurance is involved. Please talk to Dr. Hutchins if you would like to discuss this, or any matter related to you care. There is never a charge to discuss your care at this office.
